Starting a New Student Organization
New student organizations are continuously forming at UT Dallas. If you cannot find a student organization on campus that meets your needs, consider forming your own organization!

All organizations registered with the Student Organization Center are required to submit a constitution upon registration.
Student Organization Forum
The Student Organization Forum (SOC) is the representative body for registered student organizations within SOC. Its primary functions include:
- Oversee the allocation of funds to registered student organizations.
- Manage communication of University-wide policies to student organization officers, and exchange information among organizations.
- Maintain and promote usage of Presence (coming soon).
- Encourage and promote participation in University-wide activities.
- Provide leadership development and growth opportunities to student organization members.
- Advise and make recommendations related to student organization issues.

Registered Student Organizations
Explore Involvement Opportunities — SOC encourages you to explore currently registered organizations. During your search, you’ll learn about an organization missions, purpose and goals.
Engage with Fellow Students — Contact an officer for more information, attend an organization meeting or event, stop by an organization booth, sign up for an organization mailing list, or complete your membership. Remember, you don’t have to join everything at once. Take it slow and find the best fit for you.

Continued Organization Development — Orientations are offered for all student organizations. Topics discussed include: funding, room reservations, publicity, bank accounts, resources provided by SOC and more. Contact SOC to schedule an orientation.
Student Organization Funding Advisory Board (SOFAB) — The advisory board is responsible for granting and allocating money to registered student organizations that wish to host events on campus. The goal of SOFAB is to fund large-scale on campus events that foster community, diversity, entertainment and education. SOFAB is made up of five student voting members and two SOF student coordinators, and is overseen by SOC staff members.

SOC Student Coordinators
Student coordinator responsibilities include:
- Provide guidance for new student organizations
- Assist with planning leadership retreats, workshops
- Staff SOC office 15 hours per week
- Review student organization funding requests with SOC advisors
